Sweets By Meika. Where it all began. Just a sign, a table and a lawn chair.

I Didn't Own...

A foldable table so I had to borrow one from my Uncle. The lawn chair was from my in-laws. The makeshift sign? From Dollar Tree. My entire set up, pieced together from people and places who believed in what I was building.

On A Neon Green...

Sign written with a black sharpie were the words "Sweets By Meika". Someone suggested I also write "The BEST cakes in town!" and that's exactly what I did. I held that sign and waved and smiled as cars passed me by and you know what happened?

It Worked...

People were pulling in and tasting our cakes! In the parking lot of Tokyo Express, I started with one flavor and one kind of cake; our signature vanilla pound cake. It was a hit! From there, demand grew and we began adding to our cake collection. Lemon-coconut, red velvet and chocolate were flavors people were asking for and we listened.

So Why The...

Name change? The change was inspired by my own personal transformation. When I started, I had no direction. No real purpose tied to it. No real impact baked in. And as I looked out into the marketplace, I wanted my cake business to be different. I wanted to stand out. But what has always remained the same is my love of interacting and connecting with people as they tasted our delicious creations!

Listen To Me Beloved...

Start now. Start wherever you are. Start however you can with what you have. Let your faith be bigger than your fear. God will send the right people to you at the right time. But He needs you to make the first move.

I Carry So Much...

Joy and pride in saying that I didn't build this alone. This business was built by the community, for the community. Every suggestion, every critique to help improve taste and quality, every referral, every word of encouragement, every single effort to support my small business starting with nothing but a table and a sign, I can't thank you enough.

I Cherish And Adore...

The people of this little town of Salisbury. As I continue to build this vision, I will continue to carry my hometown's support with me. You all embraced me and supported the work from the very beginning. With just a sign, a table and a lawn chair. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

With a lot of love & a lot of suga,

Meika
